Art, Words, Texts, and Language are interconnected forms of expression that have been explored and experimented with throughout the history of art. From ancient hieroglyphics to contemporary digital art, artists have used words, texts, and language as tools to convey their thoughts, ideas, and emotions. This exhibition and catalog book is a celebration of that exploration and experimentation, showcasing the works of some of the most innovative artists who have used words and language as their medium.

Instructed by Stephen Serrato.
Artist Featured: Barbara Kruger, Jenny Holzer, Lawrence Weiner, Xu Bing, Yoko Ono, Joseph Kosuth, David Carson, Ben Eine

The identity that empowers me the most on a daily basis is from a bilingual background. This natural sensitivity to language makes me perspicacious when handling complex information. Art as words as art is essentially the catalog book for the same-named theoretical exhibition to show my ability of organizing heavy contents. Through out the layout design, I divided the chapters and interview sessions by colors. The book design process allowed me to reexamine the balance of color approach to create this refreshing style and to explore the communication between rational design and expressive art.
In order to further extend the visual identity from the book, I also developed the posters series about the artists and their featured work. It introduces a space changing for type performances on different platforms.*All images are owned and © by the respective holders and are presented here for educational purposes within the “fair use” terms of US Code: title 17, sec. 107.
