Design research
of typographic structures in six phases

Research & Book Design, 2022

The design research of typographic structures in 6 phases is a book in discoverable stages that obey the typographic rules, while others are focused on expressive forms. The first part of the book experiments with the design grid system with restrictions on fonts, weights, sizes, etc. The second part articulates the expressive format with FUSE 1:20 by Neville Brody and other designers, which were glyph-formed fonts and a unique approach to the Swiss punk style.

This exercise not only trains a type designer's foundation on typography layout and grid systems, but also discusses forms on different media. I designed the book’s cover and guide system in honor of this concept with the Mac system interface to push further discussion between digital and print media. Instructed by Tyrone Drake.
